Liberation Day commemorates the end of World War II, and in the Netherlands, liberation day is celebrated on 5 May. The Liberation Day Festivals are held in 14 Dutch cities each year.
Sam Feldt, Kraantje Pappie and Maan are this year’s so-called Ambassadors of Freedom, which means that they will travel by helicopter between the 14 cities to perform at various festivals.
The festival is held in the Stadspark in Groningen and in the city centre of Leeuwarden, where Groningen-based Kraantje Pappie will be the featured act in a day long programme of music. Maan, a singer from North Holland and former winner of The Voice of Holland, will headline at the Baggelhuizen festival grounds in Assen.
