A volunteer from the KEI-week, the introduction week for new students in Groningen, tested positive for the corona virus on Wednesday. The contamination has no consequences for the continuation of the KEI-week.
The volunteer probably got infected before the start of the introduction week. The volunteer did not attend a KEI event either. There was, however, close contact with five other volunteers. These volunteers immediately went into home quarantine. At the moment they do not show any symptoms of the corona virus.
The volunteers await further instructions from the GGD, the public health service. The already infected KEI volunteer is faced with an extensive source and contact investigation. This should show whether more people have been in close contact with the volunteer.
According to the organization of the KEI-week, there are no indications that visitors to the KEI-week have become infected. After consultation with the GGD, it was therefore decided to continue the KEI-week. The organization of the KEI-week remains in close consultation with the GGD, the Safety Region and the educational institutions.
