Almost ten years after her debut novel was published, author Ragini Werner who is a member and volunteer at Groningen’s International Welcome Center North (IWCN) is back with a “poignant tale of a search for love” in her new book to be released this April.
“Newly arrived in London from Auckland, Janice is looking to fill the enormous void left by a previous lover. What begins as a quiet and cautious start to what she hopes will be a new phase of her life, soon becomes a whirlwind ride through late 1970s Europe,” the teaser for the novel reads.
In Werner’s new book, Becoming Janice, the author takes readers on Janice’s journey of self-discovery and exploration of the different forms love can take. Set in London and Amsterdam, the novel promises to “break the format of a conventional sapphic romance”, and to deliver “nuanced characters, solid narrative and remarkably detailed sense of place,” as stated to the press.
Before becoming a local of the North of the Netherlands, Ragini Werner, originally from New Zealand, spent some time living in London and Sydney. Her short fiction work has appeared in literary publications throughout the globe, and in 2015, Werner published her debut novel Revealing Philippa. The author is an active volunteer of the International Welcome Center North (IWCN) in the Netherlands, where she also founded the current IWCN’s Writer’s Club.
Becoming Janice will be released on April 10th. You can pre-order a copy now from any major online bookstore or Werner’s website.
