Assen will get a high-level overnight spot in the top of a water tower. The old water tower of Assen is being converted into a luxury overnight destination for up to six people, complete with a sauna and movie theater. As reported by RTV Drenthe.
The Water Supply Company Drenthe put the water tower on sale last year because it had not been used for three years. People that wanted to buy the building had to hand in a feasible and sustainable plan, whereby the tower would remain intact as much as possible. Local residents were also consulted and had no problems with the new owner.
The idea of Riemer van den Berg of Northern Real Estate BV. has been selected by a jury from the municipality of Assen from more than 100 entries.
“We have more monumental buildings in our possession, but this is very special,” says Van den Berg. “We are very happy with it.”
It is hoped that the tower will be available to receive guests by mid-2021.
