The Hanzehogeschool Groningen is working on a Innovation Centre with the name ‘Assen: Samen Innoveren’ (Assen: Collaborative Innovation), on the Industrieweg in Drenthe’s capital.
Translation by Thomas Ansell
The project is a joint agreement between the Gemeente Assen, Province of Drenthe, the Drenthe College; Ondernemend Assen, and the Hanzehogeschool Groningen. In the Innovation Centre, collaboration between business, and HBO/MBO students will take shape. Aside from Groningen, and soon Assen, the Hanzehogeschool also has locations in Leeuwarden and Amsterdam. The new Innovation Centre will be built at Industrieweg 1 in Assen.
Drenthe Deputy (CDA) Henk Jumelet said: “Through setting up innovation-focussed working places, we hope to bring about a breeding ground for innovation. This new focus on Assen will increase its exposure as a centre for technical knowledge. This can contribute positively to the current shortage of personnel that we are finding in this sector. It’s an excellent development for the future, as well as students, the school, businesspeople; and the overall Drentse economy.”
Alderman Ronald Leemrijse is happy that the Hanzehogeschool is extending its stay in Assen: “We attach great importance to retaining HBO-educated people and creating a better link between these knowledgeable people and the employment market. In addition, we are committed to cooperation between HBO and MBO education on the one hand, and the business community on the other.”
