Videos emerged of students packing into a crowded hallway whilst waiting for exams this week
The Hanzehohgeschool Groningen will deploy security guards during exams to monitor whether students are keeping sufficient distance from each other, the university says. The move is likely a response to videos that emerged this week of students crammed into a hallway, apparently whilst waiting for an exam.
The Hanze says that on incident Monday morning, tables and chairs in one of the examination halls were not set up on time. Students were asked to wait outside, but ended up lining a corridor and hall. As reported by the GIC.
“This situation should not have arisen and is therefore not acceptable. The safety of students and employees is paramount. There is no question that physical exams must be organized safely,” says the Hanze in a statement.
According to Hanze University of Applied Sciences, stricter attention will now be paid to compliance with the various Coronavirus measures with security guards to be deployed.
