Henk Pijlman will remain in post until January 2021
Usually, the Chair of the Hanze’s Executive Board would step down on 1 September this year, but Pijlman will now continue until 1 January 2021, so that he can continue to guide the Hanze though the Coronavirus outbreak.
The Supervisory Board of Hanze University Groningen has asked Henk Pijlman to remain as chairman of the Executive Board until January 1, 2021. The Supervisory Board did this on the advice of the University Participation Council, the Groninger Internet Courant reports.
The outbreak of the virus, and the uncertainty about its duration are great challenges for all universities, personally so Pijlman has decided to continue in post, so that he can give stability to the Executive Board in this uncertain time. He also remains a member of the universities’ Senate.
The procedure for a finding a new Chair of the Executive Board has now started.
