Groninginnedag launched last year as a home coming event for current and former residents of the city.
The Groninger Internet Courant reports that the organisers were planning to host the holiday again in 2018, but they have now announced that it will be held every five years instead. The next edition will take place in 2022.
The name of the event is based on Koninginnedag, the Dutch name for Queen’s Day, which was the predecessor to King’s Day.
