The Groninger Museum won this year’s edition of the Museumkids Award for the exhibition Children’s Biennale – A Better Place.
The Museumkids Award is an initiative of the Museum Association and rewards innovative public programs that make art and culture accessible to children. The exhibition in the Groninger Museum was chosen by the professional jury as this year’s winner from 49 entries. Winning the Museumkids Award comes with a cash prize of €20,000. This will allow the museum to develop its youth program further.
“This award is a huge recognition of our work and confirms that our program really knows how to touch children,” said head of Participation & Education at the Groninger Museum Ellis Hendriksen, according to GIC. She thinks the exhibition has shown how art can stimulate the personal development and imagination of young visitors.
The Children’s Biennale was on display at the Groninger Museum from 9 March to 3 November 2024. The exhibition invited children and adults to take part in an interactive art experience that encouraged them to think about a better world. More than 100,000 visitors came to the exhibition.
