Some pubs and bars in Groningen’s city centre are taking part in a new project involving Coronavirus pass wristbands, reports the GIC. The bands are being given out on the Nieuwe Markt once a staff member has scanned the CoronaCheck app or paper certificate of vaccination or a negative test, and then will act as a local entry pass for several outlets.
The Gemeente Groningen is behind the project, working with Koninklijke Horeca Nederland. Partaking outlets are located along the Gelkingestraat, Grote Markt, Poelestraat; and Peperstraat. It is hoped that the idea will reduce queues and strain on staff.
The project begun on Wednesday night, but each evening will have a different colour band, meaning that people will need to have their phones or paper certificates re-scanned each night. From next week the bands will be available again daily between Wednesday and Saturday.
