Eierbals are perhaps Groningen’s most famous delicacy
The Eirerbal is is the most popular snacks in Groningen, and one of the only food products found only in this province, and nowhere else.
Now a company in Groningen, Aaierbal.nl, delivers Eierballen from Groningen by post throughout the Netherlands. The company even has a web-shop for fans, with hats, scarves and other gadgets dedicated to the ‘egg ball’. As reported by the GIC.
So, what is an Eierbal?
An Eierbal consists of a whole, hard-boiled egg, covered in a mixture of potato and ragout. The ball is then breaded and fried. The Groningen snack is recognized and is on the list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
