Groningen’s Christian Union party wants removal of ‘Second Love’ advertising

But what if Adam and Eve’s relationship had got stale?

A Christian political party on the Groningen city council is unhappy with posters from the dating site ‘Second Love’ being shown on the streets of Groningen. According to the party, the dating site makes it seem that cheating or adultery is “the most normal thing in the world.” As reported by the Groninger Internet Courant, the party – the ChristenUnie – now wants to ban the posters.

Second Love is a dating website for men and women who are “looking for an exciting affair or adventure”.

The ChristenUnie thinks it undesirable that within the municipality of Groningen there is room for advertising that promotes and normalises behavior like this. The group has therefore asked the Mayor of Groningen to keep these posters out of public space.

“People are free to choose a partner and how they shape their relationship. But to keep a relationship, in whatever form, good values such as reliability, honesty, responsibility and connectedness are important. Second Love makes it seem as if cheating is the most normal thing in the world, while this can have a major impact on a relationship”, says Gerben Brandsema.
