Dog owners in the city have a new hotspot
Translated by Charlotte Hardy
The municipality of Groningen, in consultation with the Dog Friendly Groningen Association (VHG), has found a suitable location in the Stadspark for the first dog playground in the municipality of Groningen. The playground is estimated to be ready in Spring 2020.
Top location
Thanks to its central location, long winding paths and beautiful green surroundings, the Stadspark is an attractive and popular park for dog owners. They have, however, had a long-cherished wish for a dog playground which will finally be fulfilled thanks to this decision by the municipality.
Dog owners have also been cheered recently by the announcement of areas where dogs can roam without a lead on weekends in Winter (October-March): the Westpark, Kardinge and Ruskenveen.
Dog playground equipment
The dog playground will border on the busy walk-through route. It will be supplied with various play equipment for those with four legs. Like in the rest of the city, there will be an obligation to clean up dog poo- but plenty of bins will be provided. The dog playground will sit next to the Paviljoenlaan, just to the west of centre in the Stadspark.
