Groningen will be testing out a self-driving bus later this year.
In a statement, the Province of Groningen said the bus will be tested at the Qbuzz bus depot in Groningen this month. The plan is to have it drive on the bus lane on the Peizerweg later this year.
The bus is a regional bus from Qbuzz that’s equipped with technology from the Dutch company robotTUNER.This technology could be installed on any bus and is based on open-source technology.
“In the future, self-driving transport will offer solutions to drive in places where this would otherwise not be financially and operationally feasible,” the province said.
If you want to see the bus in action, there will be a public demonstration at the Qbuzz Groningen bus depot on the 8th of November.
