Ever wanted to explore Groningen’s Town Hall? Now’s your chance!
Starting on Friday the 29th of September, the Municipality of Groningen will be organising free weekly guided tours of the Town Hall building.
In a statement, the municipality said that the city hall was completely renovated, restored and partly rebuilt last year. Starting on September 29, there will be three guided tours every Friday afternoon in groups of up to 20 people: at 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Tours last approximately one hour. Lifts are available for those who need them.
Visitors will be shown the new council chamber, the grand piano that was restored to its former glory, the wedding hall, the new reception room in the middle of the building, various offices, and the different artworks housed in the building including the painting The Horse Inspection by Otto Eerelman.
The tours will be led by students from the University of Groningen who have been trained by the municipality.
