The supply is intended for people aged 60 to 64
Groningen is to receive a large number of vaccines, reports the GIC. The AstraZeneca vaccines are intended for people from Groningen aged 60 to 64, people with a BMI over 40 and people with Down’s syndrome. Extra vaccines are also coming to the Province to vaccinate Groningen residents living at home and with mobility issues.
GPs in Groningen will receive AstraZeneca vaccines for these groups next week. GPs in Drenthe, meanwhile, are receiving their vaccines this week. People that are eligible for a vaccination will be invited by their GP surgery.
The vaccine rollout across the Netherlands is having to be staged, with other provinces to receive new vaccines as soon as there are available supplies again.
The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport is responsible for determining the order of groups eligible for vaccination. The start date of the different target groups depends on the availability of vaccines, though. For the most up-to-date order of vaccination, visit www.coronavaccinatie.nl
