The year 2017 hardly could have started better with the announcement of the coming of a special metal-industry group to Eemshaven, one of the seaports on the coast of the province of Groningen.
It is the metalfactory Van Merksteijn from Almelo. This factory announced an investment of 250 to 300 million euro for he realisation of a brand new factory. Van Merksteijn will buy grounds from Groningen Seaports.
The organisation Top Dutch helped in making contacts between the Northern harbour and Van Merksteijn. The investment creates 275 direct jobs, and also 275 indirect jobs.
Van Merksteijn produces steel-wire in Almelo, a city in the east of the Netherlands. But in Almelo the factory has fewer possibilities to grow and that’s why it was looking for a new plant-location in The Netherlands.
