The municipality of Groningen is looking for a new mayor and residents can help decide which qualities the new mayor should have through a new questionnaire.
Following the unexpected resignation of Koen Schuiling, who stepped down as Mayor in September, the municipal council is inviting residents, entrepreneurs, organisations and anyone else who feels involved to complete the questionnaire, where they can then indicate what they consider important and what qualities a mayor should have. The results of the survey will help create a profile for the new mayor of the municipality of Groningen. With this profile, the municipal council determines the text for the vacancy that interested parties can apply for.
Residents can also complete the survey in person. This can be done at the municipal locations Centrum (Kreupelstraat 1), Loket Werk en Inkomen (Harm Buiterplein 1 – Europapark), Haren (Raadhuisplein 10) and Ten Boer (Hendrik Westerstraat 24).
The municipal council will establish the profile sketch, which includes the results of the survey, in a separate, additional council meeting at the beginning of 2025. The Minister of the Interior will then open the vacancy.
Residents can complete the online questionnaire via stemvangroningen.nl until the 7th of December.
