Groningen police have issued a warning about people pretending to be police officers who are scamming unsuspecting victims in person and via fraudulent phone calls.
On Facebook, the police said that the people impersonating them were asking residents questions about their valuables, bank details, bank cards, and money offering to keep these things safe for them. The police clarified that real police officers would never ask for such items.
The police urged people to ask people who were knocking on their doors, claiming to be police, to show their police ID. If you become suspicious, don’t let anyone in; call emergency line 112.
If you receive a suspicious phone call from police impersonators, you can call 0900-8844.
