Het Feest is unable to operate within new Coronavirus regulations
Party café Het Feest in the Peperstraat in Groninen will be closed for at least the next two weeks, reports the GIC. The owner of the café, which mainly relies on the night hours, has taken the bizarre protest action of hanging a noose and a large banner above his business. The banner reads ‘this is the noose for the hospitality industry. #Arewestilljoiningin?”
The cafés troubles stem from last weeks rules that oblige all hospitality outlets to close their doors at 22:00, with no new customers allowed after 21:00. In a message on Facebook, the owner says that he has thought a lot about what to do, “but we can’t do anything with these measures.”
The café will remain closed voluntarily for at least two weeks, the owner says. “If anything of perspective is offered from The Hague, we will reconsider.”
