The Groningen Museum Night will be happening this Saturday, the 21st of September and an eventful programme has just been released.
Tickets for the museum night have been on sale since June and the night will take place at spots like Forum, Groninger Museum, the University Museum and more. It promises to be an evening full of exhibitions, music, workshops, lectures, dance performances, and poetry.
A new feature this year is the Rainbow Route, a walking route through the city centre connecting all 7 museums including an exhibition about Jacob Israel de Haan in the Synagogue, writer of the first Dutch homosexual novel and the Drag Bingo Show with Lola Lasagna in Noorderlicht.
At Groninger Museum there will be music by Cavolo Nero, a psychedelic groove band, workshops screen printing, a dance performance by the students of Lucia Marthas Institute for Performance Arts, and multiple exhibitions including painting group ‘De Ploeg’, ‘Dragons and Demons’, and Behind the Scenes.
Forum has exhibitions like ‘America & Trump’ by Andres Serrano, and ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ as well as a pubquiz, the lecture ‘Life Lessons from Animals’ by Job van Tol, and music by Sofia Levelt/Placebo Earwax Aftertaste.
At the University Museum you can participate in a ‘Smartphone Photography’ workshop where you learn how to take the best pictures just using your phone. They also have music by singer-songwriter Emily Putman and a performance by comedian Teun de Vries (in Dutch) as well as their exhibition Kaleidoscope, celebrating the 410 year anniversary of the University of Groningen showing all the research collected over the years.
