Groningen’s annual 4-day Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) music festival is set to kick things off this Wednesday.
ESNS has already announced its full music line-up of 256 acts from 36 European countries to perform at its 4-day showcase festival ESNS24. The festival will take place between the 17th and 24th of January 2024.
Tickets for the Eurosonic part of the programme on Thursday and Friday are sold out, however some tickets for Wednesday were still available at the time of writing.
You can keep an eye on the ticket resale platform for a chance to purchase any last-minute tickets.
Free programme
In case you didn’t manage to grab tickets for this year’s ESNS, fear not – there’s also a free access programme.
ESNS Air returns to the Grote Markt in the centre of Groningen. Enjoy free upcoming and well-known acts in the big tent, where there is room for as many as 1,500 visitors. Take a look at the programme of ESNS Air from 17 to 20 January via the timetable.
In the Oude Ebbingestraat, Platosonic will take place at the record shop Plato and the Coffee Company; the official daytime in-store festival, featuring bands and artists who also playing at ESNS. Platosonic is free to enter and takes place from Thursday 18 to Saturday 20th January. You can take a look at the timetables here.
Grunnsonic is a free showcase festival of Groningen-based musical talent that takes place during the ESNS. This year Grunnsonic takes place from January 17th until January 19th at Het Pakhuis, Warhol, Het Concerthuis and KLUP DE DAG. Find more information see here.

Founded in 1986, ESNS hosts an annual 4-day showcase festival across venues in Groningen. Emerging European (Eurosonic) and Dutch (Noorderslag) acts range from mainstream pop to progressive finds. The festival is also combined with a music conference geared at trailblazing the music industry towards a sustainable future. International pop star Dua Lipa had attended the 2023 edition of this conference.
