The number of positive Coronavirus tests in Groningen has increased by 56 (to 464) in the past week, with the daily infection rate doubling compared to a week earlier.
On average, about eight infections per day were added between 3 and 10 August. Between 9 and 10 August, the GGD registered eleven new positive tests, reports the GIC.
The increase in the number of infections continues at pace. Between July 27 and August 3, the number of infections rose by 26. In the week before, 9 positive tests were counted.
The new infections have not yet resulted in any new hospitalisations or deaths, according to the RIVM and GGD Groningen. There are now four new Coronavirus patients in the UMCG, but they have been transported to Groningen for treatment from a different region.
The figures also show that it is mainly young people between the ages of 20 and 40 that are becoming infected with the virus.
