The 4 Mijl race in Groningen annually attracts 23,000 runners and is the largest running event in the province, and this year the organisers are hoping to bring in up to 2,000 student participants through their own dedicated race. RTV Noord reports that students can sign up for the 13 October race for a discounted price.
In addition to the student event, participants in the charitable event can choose from four other events: the Recreational Run, the Competitive Run, the Business Run and the Youth Run.
The 2019 charity which the 4 Mijl is raising funds for is the Walk On Foundation, which was created by Dennis Jager, a paraplegic man from Wagenborgen. The 2018 race raised 93,700 euros for the Transplant Centre at UMCG.
Participants can sign up for the various races starting on 16 May at noon.
