The Greenwise Campus, a new educational center in Emmen, has received a €6 million grant from the Province of Drenthe. The funding will be used for the renovation and development of the former bus depot into a cutting-edge educational facility. Part of the grant will also be allocated toward knowledge development initiatives and educational programs.
Collaboration between businesses and educational institutions
The Greenwise Campus is a joint initiative of the University of Groningen, NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, Drenthe College, and the business community. The center, which is set to open in 2024, will focus on innovation and sustainability. It will provide students with the opportunity to work on real-world problems in collaboration with businesses and researchers.
“The Greenwise Campus will be a place where innovation, research, and education come together,” says Willemien Meeuwissen, deputy for the Province of Drenthe. “The collaboration between businesses and the different educational levels will contribute to maintaining and strengthening the innovative power of the region. It will also offer students the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art machines and new technologies.”
State-of-the-art facilities
The new campus will provide businesses with the opportunity to test and experiment with the latest technologies. This will help them to gain new knowledge and insights, which can be used to improve their products and services. It will also help to ensure that the education provided at the Greenwise Campus is relevant to the needs of the business community.
The Greenwise Campus is a significant investment in the future of Emmen and the Province of Drenthe. It is expected to create jobs, attract new businesses to the region, and boost the local economy.
