GO Sharing, the provider of lime-green electric shared bikes, will withdraw its services from Groningen by the end of August, as reported by the Algemeen Dagblad. The company, which launched its electric scooters in Groningen in 2020, will also pull out of twelve other Dutch cities, maintaining operations only in Amsterdam. Nearly 3,000 scooters will be removed nationwide, according to scootervrij.nl.
Founded in 2019, GO Sharing faced multiple challenges in Groningen. After initially introducing electric scooters in the city, the company was barred from operating in 2021. It returned in 2022 but soon pulled out from 32 of the 45 municipalities it served. In 2023, GO Sharing encountered financial difficulties, temporarily halting services in Groningen before returning with e-bikes.
Following the company’s departure, residents and visitors will still have access to e-bikes from Bolt, as well as electric scooters provided by Check and Felyx.
