The GGD Fryslân, the public health body for the province, has announced a new weekly vaccination record with 19,738 people having received a vaccine this week. Last week the total was 17,374. In total, there are now eight vaccination centres in Friesland.
The number of new confirmed Coronavirus infections rose slightly, however, with 1,460 people having had a positive test. This is 41 up on the week before, though the increase week-on-week is slowing. The health authority adds that people are protected against the Coronavirus from two weeks after their second vaccination, and so people in the province should continue to uphold social distancing.
Next week two more vaccination centres will open, in Koudum and Appelscha. Vaccines are also being dispensed by GP’s, in care homes, and by hospitals.
According to the Dutch government’s Coronavirus dashboard, 4.8 million people have now received at least one dose of the Coronavirus vaccine, with just over 105,000 vaccines dispensed each day.
