The GGD Fryslân has announced that one of its staff members has been laid off for filming patient details on their mobile and sharing the videos on Snapchat. The incident allegedly came to light on May 25, and the Dutch agency for personal detail security has also been notified.
All of the victims have been contacted by the GGD. The staff member shared the videos with around 30 contacts on the photo and video messaging service, and have now been deleted.
The employee was working for the public health body having been hired by an ‘uitzendbureau’ (temporary workers agency) to help with vaccinations in Friesland. Details shown on Snapchat include the first letter of the first name and last name of patients, their gender, and the status of their vaccinations and appointments.
