Bus passengers traveling to the Zuidlaardermarkt on Tuesday, October 17, should prepare for changes in service, as several bus routes from Groningen will be modified to accommodate visitors to the event, Dutch transit authorities said.
Starting Monday evening, October 14, through Tuesday afternoon, October 15, additional bus services will operate around the clock for those attending both the Zuidlaardernacht and Zuidlaardermarkt.
Bus line 5, which runs between Groningen and Annen, will not stop at the Brink stop in Zuidlaren, with an alternative stop available at Julianalaan. On October 17, Q-link 5 will run from Groningen between 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., bypassing Zuidlaren and traveling directly to Annen via the P+R Westlaren stop. A shuttle bus will operate between P+R Westlaren and the Julianalaan stop in Zuidlaren one to two times per hour.
Bus line 51 (Groningen – Zuidlaren) will not stop at Brink on October 17 but will instead serve the temporary Brandweerkazerne stop.
The Zuidlaardermarkt, Europe’s largest horse market, has been a tradition for over 800 years, drawing visitors from across Europe, including Denmark, Belgium, and Germany. The event also features a large goods market spanning four kilometers and a family-friendly fun fair, which will be open from the Friday before the market until the following Wednesday.
Attendees are advised to plan for these service adjustments when traveling to the event.
