FC Groningen Foundation is set to get a welcome boost from the club’s leading players who plan to auction off some of their items, with all funds raised going towards combatting physical inactivity.
This Friday, April 29, the team’s weekly live show will be completely dominated by the auction, the Groninger Internet Courant reports. The club’s former general manager, Hans Nijland, will command the audience as chief auctioneer, whipping attendees into excitement during the competitive bidding process.
Among the guests will be striker Cyril Ngonge who is expected to take the viewers to the special moment on October 24, 2021, when he scored a stunning goal in a game against AZ Alkmaar.
The shoes, worn in that match and autographed by the player, are among the fifty unique lots FC Groningen is offering in collaboration with online auction platform Catawiki.
Another item that will be auctioned off tomorrow is the pair of goalkeeper Jan Hoekstra’s game-worn and signed gloves from the last season. The athlete hopes to raise vital funds for the conditioning and fitness programs for kids in the northern Netherlands.
The auction will be streamed on the club’s official YouTube channel Friday afternoon from 4 p.m.
