The municipality of Groningen will step in to ensure that every child in the city can follow education digitally, rich or poor
Very soon, every child in the municipality of Groningen will be able to follow education at home with a PC, tablet or laptop. Most schools have already set up a system that meanss children can learn at home, but where laptops are still needed, the municipality will supply them in the coming days so that every child can then learn remotely. As reported by the Groninger Internet Courant.
Alderman for Education Carine Bloemhoff: “Schools have been working from home to provide every child with a PC, laptop or tablet. But the demand for this is high and the delivery time is long. That is why we as a municipality are happy to assist and deliver 600 laptops to the children that need them, through the schools. I would also like to express my appreciation for all the people who now have to teach so differently in education. They have a special dedication to their students. I love that.”
Schools in primary, secondary and special education will lend the laptops out as long as distance education is required. Laptops are currently difficult to obtain due to the high demand. There are also families where several family members have to share a PC, making learning and working difficult.
