De Streekboer will deliver food to your door from farms in Friesland, Groningen, and Drenthe
Translated by Thomas Ansell
As reported by the Omrop Fryslân, an organisation has begun taking orders for fresh food boxes from farms in the North. De Streekboer hopes that it can help local producers through the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, now that all cafe’s and restaurants have been shut.
Up until now most of the farms would have delivered their produce to the hospitality sector, so this bolsters their demand.
The organisation is also looking for more farmers to take part, as well as volunteers to help deliver the boxes. De Streekboer is also searching for businesses that can help deliver the boxes to food banks.
How does it work?
Boxes can be ordered via the De Streekboer website, with a starting price of 47,25 euros. The boxes contain enough produce for breakfast/lunch and two evening meals for three or four people. Boxes will come supplied with information about the farmers behind the food, and the organisation is hoping to open options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free boxes in the coming days.
Deliveries are carried out on Friday and Saturday (with a 2,25 euro charge), and can be ordered up until Thursday at 14:00. All products come from the postcodes 8400-9999, and the Wadden Islands.
Payment is through iDEAL. You can also pick up from various local shops throughout Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe on Thursdays and Fridays.
