During a game of Stratego that became far realer than expected, one Frisian primary school student found a grenade outside the Drenthe town of Westerbork on Wednesday.
Omrop Fryslân reports that the student notified a teacher after finding the grenade. Onno Bouma, the director of De Gearing primary school, told the Frisian broadcaster that the instructor initially thought that the grenade was part of the game, but quickly realised that it was very much real.
The instructors evacuated the students from the woods and called the police. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialists took the ordinance away and disabled it. The police stuck around to explain to the young students how the authorities had disposed of the weapon.
