Arjen Tuiten, who hails from the Frisian town of Joure, was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Makeup and Hairstyling for his work on the film “Wonder”.
The film stars Julia Roberts and tells the story of a young boy with a deformity (played by Jacob Trembley) going to school for the first time. Kazuhiro Tsuji wound up winning the Academy Award for his contribution to the film “Darkest Hour”, which focused on former British prime minister Winston Churchill in the early days of the Second World War.
Although this was Tuiten’s first nomination, according to the Leeuwarder Courant, the 37-year-old makeup artist has worked on a number of high-profile Hollywood films, including “Maleficent”, “Pan’s Labyrinth” and “Alice in Wonderland”.
