Former Emmen VVD council member Raymond Ripassa has filed a police report after the windows of his home were covered in a mixture of eggs, coffee and faeces.
Dagblad van het Noorden reports that Ripassa’s neighbour’s homes were not impacted, leading Ripassa to suspect he was personally targeted due to divisive comments on social media.
“I’ve been critical of leftwing election rhetoric and social issues in recent years”, the 52-year-old Emmen resident says. Ripassa has been called a racist because he once wore a chain bearing the logo of the VOC, the Dutch East India Company.
“I’m not exactly making a lot of friends by saying these sorts of things”, Ripassa says. “I can’t think of any other reason that someone would want to do this to my windows.”
Ripassa’s car was also defaced at one point while he was serving on the Emmen City Council between 2002 and 2009. In 2009, Ripassa set up a splinter party, Liberal Emmen, and in 2010, he left the council.
