For the first time in years, Groningen is once again getting its own real Oktoberfest: ‘Oktofest’! A two-day festival will be held at EM2, with beer, bratwurst, dirndls; butchers, and more beer.
The festival will, naturally, also be full of lederhosen, according to Sikkom. Oktoberfest is a yearly Bavarian festival dedicated to beer, with the main event held in Munich. It’s the source of many ‘typically German’ traditions, and is full of half-drunk conversations and schlager music.
This year, the beer festival is also coming Groningen, with all the typical trimmings: long tables, butchers, pretzels; wurst, DJ’s, appropriate outfits, and more.
On Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September, you’ll be able to join in the fun at EM2 in Groningen: from 18:00 to 00:00. Tickets are available for 13.50 Euros, or 101 Euros for a full 10-seat table on the Oktofest website.
