The culinary event will feature a wide variety of cuisines from cultures around the world. “Think Surinamese, Middle Eastern, and Spanish dishes such as churros, steak, and burgers,” says Leonie Pluyter, owner of Beau Business, the event management organization behind the festival.
According to the Dagblad van het Noorden, entrance to the event will be free of charge. Over a dozen food trucks are scheduled to set up shop during the festival, which will be hosted on the Raadhuisplein in the Emmen city centre.
Looking for more food fun? From the 20th to the 21st of August, food-lovers will also be able to enjoy the tenth iteration of MM Culinair, a gourmet event featuring at least nine prestigious restaurants from around the province of Drenthe.
Both Emmen Culinair and the Barrel Food Truck fest are organized and hosted by Pluyter who, like many events organizers, was forced to cancel several events over the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the Dagblad van het Noorden. This year, however, with Covid-19 regulations seemingly in the rear-view mirror, she is determined to keep the festivals on track.
So, if you’re looking for some excellent eating experiences this summer, Emmen looks like the place to be!
