Despite the unassuming name, Storm Evert could bring 100 kph winds
Translated by Thomas Ansell
The weather rollercoaster in the Netherlands continues unabated in 2021, with the first storm of the year on the way, reports the Dagblad van het Norden. The North West of the Netherlands is likely to be hit hardest by the incoming storm (sorry Friesland!) on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
Weather reports suggest that Wednesday will begin dry, but the chances of heavy rain will grow as the day continues. This is likely to culminate in torrential downpours and high winds during the hours of darkness.
It is not certain that the weather system will develop into a ‘named storm’, with Storm Christoph petering out in January, and though ‘Snowstorm Darcy’ was named as such, it was never an ‘official storm’.
There is a chance that the stormy weather will continue into the weekend, too.
