Around 1:30 on Saturday morning, the fire department responded to a blaze near the Groningen Central Station. Seven scooters were destroyed in the fire.

OOGTV says the police and fire fighters were able to respond quickly to the fire, but they were unable to salvage the motorised vehicles.
The scooters were parked along the Professor H.C. van Hallpad, the bike path that runs parallel to the tracks and underneath the KPN building. The police are reportedly investigating the incident and have not ruled out arson.
