Five members of Albertus Magnus have also tested positive
The notorious Groningen student association Vindicat will keep its clubhouse on the Grote Markt closed until at least Wednesday, after fifteen members of the association tested positive for the Coronavirus. A number of other student members are also still waiting for the results of their tests. Five members of the Albertus Magnus student association have also tested positive for the Coronavirus. As reported by the GIC.
More and more infections in Groningen are appearing in people aged 18-30: “with the decision to temporarily close the society, Vindicat takes its responsibility to contain the virus in this age category. Although the first contamination in all probability took place outside the club on the Grote Markt, Vindicat does not want to run any risk and therefore temporarily closes its doors ”, says the association, which has had a litany of negative press headlines following 900 of its students going on a raucous ski-trip to a Coronavirus hotspot at the beginning of the outbreak, and a history of violence during its notorious hazing rituals.
Both associations are in close contact with the GGD Groningen, the Safety Region and the educational institutions. The source of the infections is being investigated, and all members are being asked to comply with Coronavirus measures and to report complaints to the GGD. “In case of infection, members are expected to remain in strict home quarantine. The safety of members and their environment is paramount, ”says Vindicat.
The GIC also reports that five members of Albertus Magnus have also tested positive. It seems that the five did not pick up the virus at the Albertus Magnus clubhouse: according to a spokesperson for the association, there is therefore no reason to close the society. “The situation at other associations makes us aware of the seriousness of the situation. We already have Coronavirus measures and they remain in force. The members keep a distance of 1.5 meters, we have walking lines and a maximum of four people can sit at a table.”
