Most are in the City of Groningen
The number of confirmed infections in the Province of Groningen has risen by 15 to 119 since yesterday. In addition, a first patient has died due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus at the UMCG. As reported by the GIC.
Of the 119 infections in the province, at least 78 were counted in the City of Groningen.
Nationally, 1,019 patients are confirmed to have the virus, with The Netherlands now having 7,431 tested infections. The number of deaths across the Netherlands rose by 78 to 434.
The RIVM announced that the number of hospital admissions and deaths is increasing by less than they had expected. They add that lots of people with symptoms at the moment are likely to have been infected when few measures were in place. The RIVM says that people should see the effect of stricter measures in the figures at the end of this week or early next week.
The UMCG has confirmed that three virologists are self-isolating at home. Bert Niesters, Marjolein Knoester and Alex Friedrich have mild complaints and they are working from home. The UMCG now houses 33 Coronavirus patients, 15 of whom are in intensive care. One Intensive Care patient at the UMCG recently died, but more details are not yet known.
