Various museums in the city of Groningen attracted fewer visitors last year than the year before, according to figures released Tuesday by heritage support organisation Erfoedpartners.
GIC reported that the Groninger Museum attracted 166,000 visitors in 2024. A year earlier, there were 243,705 – however, this was a year after the pandemic, which may have led to extra crowds.
The exhibitions in the Forum were also less visited last year than the year before. In 2024, there were 32,050 visitors, whereas a year earlier there were 54,325 people.
The Synagogue in the Folkingestraat does show positive figures; the number of visitors there actually increased, by almost 5,000 to 24,236.
Together, the more than 50 museums, churches and castles in the province of Groningen attracted 829,900 visitors last year, compared to 953,077 in 2023.
