Between the 31st of August and the 2nd of September, several Groningen train lines will not be operating a normal service.

The Groninger Internet Courant reports that there will be no trains running between Groningen and Weener, Veendam and Assen over the weekend. The reason for the cancellations is rail works between Groningen and Haren. Rail replacement buses will be operating on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so travelers should anticipate 30 to 45 minutes of extra travel time.
ProRail will be doing construction on the pedestrian and cycle tunnel at the station in Haren in the coming days. Combinatie Herepoort, the contractor consortium behind the Groningen ring road and other city infrastructure upgrades, will be carrying out a soil survey at the Esperantostraat intersection and the Helperzoom tunnel over the weekend as well. Rust removal operations will also be carried out on the rails themselves.
