The 20 year old Norwegian youth international has signed from Sarpsborg 08 FF
FC Groningen have announced the signing of Jørgen Strand Larsen, a Norwegian youth international, on a four-year agreement with the option for another season on top. The 1.93M striker has played nearly fifty times for Sarpsborg, scoring six goals, and spent a season on loan at AC Milan in 2017.
Technial Director Mark-Jan Fledderus said that FC Groningen was looking for a striker that was “as complete as possible” within the club’s financial capabilities, reports the GIC.
“We have used the past period to scout him in totality and to include everyone internally at the club in the story. We are convinced that we have made the right choice with him, but we also realize that Jørgen is still young and has everything to prove. He has excellent conditions; physically strong, tall, pretty fast and good technique”, says Fledderus.
Larsen played last Tuesday-evening with Young Norway in the European Championship qualifying match against the Dutch Juniors, but lost 2-0. The new striker traveled to Groningen and will train for the first time on Thursday. Larsen is fit for competition and can be used immediately, says the club.
