A promise made is a promise kept: FC Emmen defeated Sparta Rotterdam 3-1 on Sunday, meaning that the Drenthe team would enter the Eredivisie for the first time, and Lubbers handed Jansen the keys to his three tonne ride.
RTV Drenthe reports that Lubbers made the deal with Jansen in late March when the negotiations for the midfielder’s contract were hitting a wall. Lubbers got personally involved in the talks and sweetened the deal by offering to let Jansen borrow his luxurious wheels if the team made it into the Eredivisie.
