Water levels are so low in the Oldambtmeer in Blauwestad that the Hunze en Aa’s water board is pumping in extra water.

The Groninger Internet Courant writes that the extra water is necessary for recreational sailing on the body of water: water levels are currently too low for boats to use the lake safely. Hunze en Aa’s will open a lock today to allow more water to flow into the lake.
The main source of water for the Oldambtmeer is rain water, and the prolonged dry weather in the country has led to a decline in the water levels at the lake. Levels are expected to continue declining until it rains again, and there is no precipitation in the forecast for the coming days.
