There is currently only one red deer in Drenthe
In the province of Drenthe, emotions are running high due to plans by the Province to shoot a lone red deer. The province of Drenthe does not know how the animal ended up in the province. But the animal is not native, and so it can be hunted, reports RTV Drenthe. The Province also say that the animal could be dangerous for traffic.
A petition was started to avoid killing the animal, which has collected 27,000 signatures so far.
“Will the red deer be shot at short notice? The answer is no”, says Commissioner Henk Jumelet of the Province.
