Dagblad van het Noorden reports that after a night on the town, two drunk students got a ride home from the officers in, sirens and lights on full blast. One of the students filmed the police escort from the back seat of the car, which was posted on Twitter.
Leuk om te zien dat de #Politie van #Emmen zich zo serieus bezighoudt met haar werkzaamheden en als taxi fungeert voor bezopen scholieren @PolitieEmmen @Politie pic.twitter.com/I3xfNc0o5M

The video shows the car traveling at high speed through a roundabout, much to the amusement of the inebriated passengers.
The Emmen police posted on Twitter that they had reviewed the video and that they would be taking measures against the officers, but it is unclear what sort of penalties they would face. A police spokesperson stressed that this sort of conduct is not standard procedure. “We are only supposed to transport suspects that we have taken into custody in the patrol cars.”
