Getting a manicure or a facial scrub in addition to a trim at a barbershop is something of a trend at the moment. In Groningen, Emeer Al Badawi’s newest salon focuses on offering grooming services alongside the barber’s chair. Amoeri Luxury, located on the A weg, will open on Saturday and aims to offer a slightly more luxurious version of the services that Badawi offers at Barbier/Salon Amoeri, located on the Gedempte Zuiderdiep.

“Men are starting to take the time for more intensive treatments to take care of their outward appearance. Some people are just interested in a haircut, and of course they’re always welcome! Women enjoy treating themselves every once in a while, and men are starting to realize how nice that can be. So we’re just catering to that”, Badawi says.
With that trend in mind, the new location offers manicures and pedicures, a steam bath, a tanning bed, a Jacuzzi and face scrubs. “Women are more than welcome here, too! Anyone who wants to feel their best can come to us”, Badawi says.
As an entrepreneur in Groningen for the past four years and the owner of three businesses, Badawi seems to have good instincts for identifying the prevailing trends in the market.
“When I talk with our clients, it’s clear that they’re not always just looking for a haircut nowadays. That has been more common among women for a while, but it’s still a relatively new thing for men to put a little more effort into the details when it comes to self-care. People used to think it was unusual for men to take care of themselves and get beauty treatments, but things have really changed. Men are paying more attention to their appearance, and we’re happy to help them with that”, Badawi says.
