Something to brighten up a grey Monday in March
When (if) enough people have been vaccinated and the Coronavirus is under control, there will be a festival in Groningen at the Suikerunieterrein, reports the GIC. The organisers have made a teaser video called “floating is life”, showing the Suikerterrein abuzz in the summer.
Chris Garrit of EM2 has announced that the grand summer terrace will open its doors again at the end of April, with the giant terrace to be filled with funfair style attractions, face-melting DJ’s and and eye-catching art.
Last summer EM2 and the Stadslab had a terrace with attractions and businesses from across the city, and the same is to happen this summer with the addition of six boules courts on site by BOEL.
Another new crowd puller is a vintage fairground swing ride, more than a hundred years old, which Garrit is bringing to EM2. The swing carousel was built in 1895 and stood on De Parade, the predecessor of Noorderzon, thirty years ago. Since then, it has been part of a traveling theater circus.
EM2 will open the terrace at the end of April, if Coronavirus restrictions allow it.
